I recently attended a few CXWORX classes and was inspired to share my experience with our readers. I’ll be honest that I do work on my core/abs/obliques, but like most people, probably not enough. So, when I attended a CXWORX class a few weeks ago, I was ready to be done in the middle of the first song. It was very humbling and an eye-opener. Let me just say, if you think you have a strong core, you probably don’t---unless you attend this class.
For anyone wondering this CX thing is all about—it is a 30 minute class that works the foundation of your core from shoulders to thighs. Equipment uses is your body weight, resistance tubes, and plates. You will do the typical crunches, planks, and hovers, but, you will also work hips, glutes, and lower back. I asked instructor Laura Meier, a few questions about CXWORX and found some good info out. CXWORX has been around for approximately 7 years and new choreography/music is released every 3 months. Laura has been an instructor of CXWORX since release 14 and they just launched release 27. I asked her about the intensity level of the class and what participants should expect. Here’s what she had to say:
1) What should one know when going to CX? We have options for everything we do, so no matter what level you are at, you can be successful in CXWORX.
2) What is the intensity level? This depends on your fitness level and the options you choose, but it is a pretty intense class and definitely feels that way to most people when they first try it because we use muscles you probably aren’t used to.
3) Anything else you'd like to share? Just one simple statement… “If you want to be better at everything you do, come to CXWORX!"
