Depending on your source, it’s either George Bernard Shaw or Oscar Wilde who said, “youth is wasted on the young”. Youth is synonymous with vitality, energy, spunk, vigor, and freshness. I don’t know about you, but I know this week - in fact, this entire year so far - has been energy draining for me, mostly in a good way. I could use an extra dose of vigor and vitality. If these exist in pill-form, I’m convinced they’d be flying off the shelves at record speed. Of course you can find quick “energy” sources on the market – I’m thinking of Red Bull and Monster, lattes, expresso, chocolate and sugar. But these short-lived bursts of fake energy are not without consequences. Too many of them will negatively impact my pocketbook, not to mention my adrenal glands.
I am done with quick-fixes and instant results. I’m too old for that. Experience has shown me these are extremely short-lived and ultimately leave me feeling flat and defeated. Instead, I want something lasting. Something worth working for. Something that when done consistently over time will reap rewards. Something I can be proud of.
Enter the Sprint 8 program.
Sprint 8 is a pre-programmed option on a lot of our Matrix Fitness cardio machines (treadmills, recumbent bikes, upright bikes and ascent trainer). There are many levels – beginner, intermediate, advanced and elite. Plus there’s an option to customize your workout speeds and inclines/intensities. It is a 20-minute workout that includes a three minute warmup, eight 30-second sprints with 90 seconds of active recovery in between, and finally a two minute cooldown.
Did you know that in just 2 weeks of 20 minutes per day, 3 days per week you are all but guaranteed a lasting energy boost? That’s 2 hours in 14 days. We are all busy, but I am convinced each of you has 2 hours to spare out of 336.
The gist of it is the increase in cellular mitochondria from the increased growth hormone release during the sprints. Take a listen for yourself. http://www.matrixlearningcenter.com/us/how-sprint-8-workouts-increase-energy/
If you are skeptical about this potential increased energy resource, I challenge you to try it for yourself. Commit to get here and use our Sprint 8 program on a treadmill, upright bike, recumbent bike or elliptical trainer 3 times a week for 2 weeks. My money is on you feeling more energized overall. Any wellness staff member will be able to show you the Sprint 8 program on your machine of choice.
