John's Jibberish - Packer Picks from the Y's Sports Director - Saturday, Sept. 29th Edition

Before I provide my pick for this game, I need to clarify something…the officials didn’t cost the Packers the game against the Seahawks. The Packers lost that game (i.e. settling for field goals instead of touchdowns, getting needed stops on 3rd downs, etc. etc.). However, the officials did miss a call that affected the outcome of the game. I truly believe the officials were doing their best – with not having any relative experience, how would you like to be asked to officiate a game consisting of some of the top athletes in the world when it comes to the game of football (no, I don’t mean soccer)? The replacement officials weren’t ready for the speed of game play and should have never been asked to step-in to officiate.

With all of that being said, I am going with the Packers in a close game.  The officials are back. The Packers are angry. The Saints are winless.  Though this is a game not to take lightly for the Packers, I do have the confidence they will come out on top. Execution is a must – be solid on the fundamentals, make a couple big plays, and we will all be cheering the Packers on for a victory.

Packers – 24

Saints -17

Player to Watch – Cedric Benson. If the second half of the Seahawks game means anything, Coach McCarthy will be calling Benson’s name and relying on him to get the ground game going…100+ yards and a TD would be nice.
