Swimming My Age

MARY LUTZ (Member 30 years)

“Many years ago, I started lap swimming at the “old” Y.  I remember feeling elated when I finished 18 lengths, a quarter of a mile.  WOW!  I continued to build on that reaching 36 soon.  When I got to 54 (3/4 of a mile), that number of laps became my usual swim routine.”

“On my 54th birthday, it occurred to me that I was ‘swimming my age’. I thought it would be fun to continue swimming my age every year.  I’ve been doing that ever since.  This October, I swam 77 laps in honor of my 77th birthday.  It felt great and as long as I am able to swim, I hope to ‘swim my age’.”

Awesome girl. I like to bike and was hoping to do the same with cycling. This year did 100 miles on my 70th birthday. Stay young.
