Special Olympics


We are proud to be sponsors of Special Olympics bocce, bowling, team basketball, swimming and track & field. All new Special Olympics participants must have a medical form completed prior to the start of the program. If you are interested in joining, please contact Kim Schooley to obtain a medical form.

Special Olympics Track & Field: (Ages 8+)
From running to walking and throwing to jumping, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! Participants will fine-tune their skills to compete in Special Olympics, WI. Held at the Kettle Moraine High School Track. We practice outside, so please dress accordingly. Practice begins Thurs, March 18th

Special Programs Swim Team Practice: (Ages 8 and up)
Learn or fine-tune specific techniques and strokes to become more competitive for Special Olympics competition. Held in the Competitive Pool.
Wednesday 7:00 - 8:00 pm
Summer: $60.00 for all

Special Olympics Bocce Ball:(Ages 8+)
Bocce is a team sport of skill and strategy. Each player is given two balls and takes a turn rolling the ball toward the smallest ball (pallino), which has already been thrown onto the field. Players are then given points for the balls thrown closest to the pallino. Special Olympics offers competition in Team Bocce and Unified Team Bocce. Bocce practice begins Monday, May 18 (weather permitting).

Held in the Competitive Pool. Competitive season begins February 24, 2010.

Special Olympics Basketball: (Ages 8 and up)
Participants should be ready to play at team level competition. Players have the option to participate in the Wisconsin Special Olympics competition.
Season runs November to April.
Mondays, 5:30 - 7:30 pm at Greenland School.

NEW!  Special Olympics - YAP (Young Athletes Program): (Ages 2-7)
Young athletes is an inclusive, innovative sports play program for children with and without cognitive disabilities, designed to introduce them to the world of sports. Foundational Skills developed through YAP: walking, running, throwing, striking, balancing, jumping, kicking, trapping & catching.
Location: YMCA Green Space
Ages 2-4: Mondays    3:30-4:10 pm
Ages 5-7: Mondays    4:20-5:00 pm
Location: Lake Country School
Ages 5-7: Mondays    10:30-11:10 am
