YMCA Piranha Swim Team
2018 Long Course Season

The YMCA at Pabst Farms Swim Team is a year-round competitive program that serves swimmers, ranging from those with no competitive experience through Y National and USAS National qualifiers. We participate in both YMCA and USAS sanctioned competitions. Swimmers must be members of the YMCA at Pabst Farms.

PRACTICE SQUAD DESCRIPTIONS:

Piranha Swim Team Squad Descriptions:
Program placement is based on swimmer’s ability after coach’s assessment. Practice and meet schedules are available online at www.teamunify.com/wiypfst.

Green:
(Ages 8 & under; swimmers with basic skills start here.)
Expected participation: 2 or more practices per week. Home meets are strongly encouraged, away meets are optional.
Skill level: Deep water safe, capable of multiple laps of Competitive Pool and comfortable with head in water.

Orange:
(Ages 8 & up; for swimmers with intermediate skills.)
Expected participation: 2 or more practices per week. Home meets are strongly encouraged, away meets are optional.
Skill level: Deep water safe, capable of multiple laps of Competitive Pool and comfortable with head in water.

Bronze: 
(Ages 9 & up)
Expected participation: 3 or more sessions per week for maximum results.
Skill level: Swimmer will have completed Green or Orange level.

Silver:
(Ages 11-15)
Expected participation: 3 or more sessions per week for maximum results.
Skill level: Stroke mechanics have developed sufficiently to prepare swimmers for an introduction to aerobic conditioning.  

Gold: 
(Ages 13 & up)
Must demonstrate consistent attendance in Silver group prior to admittance.
Group requirements: Strong internal motivation to commit to our most rigorous and demanding training program. Efficient technique in all strokes.
